So I’m averaging 25k per day on the bike double on a Sunday, running is a problem as I have a knee injury which is restricting me, but 1or 2 runs a week around 5k a time – no swimming yet, but then that’s always a last minute thing for me. So by the time I reach the start line for my ‘fourth’ half ironman I will be ready, no booze during January but then again I don’t drink much these days. So really looking forward to this one as long as my pedal doesn’t fall off this time !!

Sunday 13th April – Wiggle Sportive in the New Forest.
What a difference a couple of weeks make when you look after your muscles by stretching them properly! Two weeks ago I had to withdraw after only completing have the distance at a ride in Surrey, yesterday I completed the 100k course and had some left over, at New Forest ..pleased with that.
The whole event started by a drive down to B’mouth late on Saturday night – a quick Italian then a room share with big bro! – don’t believe anything he says about me coughing and spluttering all night and keeping him awake, I don’t think a thunder storm would have disturbed him.
Anyway up early next morning, met Kirstin and family at the event location – Tony went off to compete in the Epic ride (138k) myself and Alex Duffield went for the Standard (100k) – outstanding ride, much flatter course than Surrey two weeks ago the sun was out and the route took us through the Forest which was very enjoyable.
I came in at just over 4 hours which pleased me no end after the trouble I have had recently with injuries – Alex turned up a little bit later after stopping for a feast of jaffa cakes at the half way point.
Tony came cruising in at just over 5 hours for the longer course – so all in all a good training ride – 3 weeks and counting !?
Peter: Training, Training, Training …schedule locked in now – a need for change to keep motivated, so harder, longer rides and runs required let’s up the anti !! time is ticking by the event will soon be on us so its a MUST to keep going. Still plenty of time though to pledge some money for this worth while cause please visit the Just giving page and help us to make a difference
Very few weeks left before the big event the weekly routine is pretty much locked in now all that is required is some lengths of the swimming pool – that should be arranged this week ? I think to keep the motivation up we must keep reminding ourselves why we are actually doing this .. its not for personal reward or the heroic views its all about raising money ! and the more we raise the better, we need everyone to help us please, please every little bit helps – so when I cross the finish line on May 10 and punch the air it really does mean somthing – thank you for everyone that has so far contributed to the cause and those who are thinking about it thank you in advance – keep the fight going
Peter: It feels a bit like after the Lord Mayor’s show, yesterday great bike ride (80K) and a good run straight after, this morning just 16.6K on the bike seems quite lame ! but a new week a new challenge let’s just get on with it !
Peter: Time off! The body has told me that it’s bashed to bits and it needs some time out .. so 2 days with no training at all, then we can see how things are ! HOWEVER the collection of much needed funds NEVER tires so please continue to support this worth while cause visit http://www.headcase-ironman.me Thank you
That thing they call the ‘wall’ … well I think I have hit it and bounced off my body is in bits bad back, bad knee, bad ankle legs ache ! HELP – I keep telling myself its all in my mind but then when I try to run or cycle my body tells me it is real. Still have to keep at it as the lycra kit is still too tight – thanks to everyone who has added to the grand total we must keep spreading the word – Keep going !
Editor: We want photographic evidence of this Lycra fitting issue!
