Distance Travelled

totals2So in the last 4 months Tony has cycled the length of New Zealand 3054km,

Peter has run from London to Nottingham 236km, and cycle the length of the Red Sea 2230km

Andy has run from London to Sunderland 428Km

Dan has swam the distance between Edinburgh and Livingstone

David has swam the Channel 40km, and if they’d all teamed up together the whole team could have cycled the length of the Mississippi river, almost 3 times!!!!

Which is also about the same distance from London To Cape Town nearly 9500km!!

Under the same sky

World Map
So as we all sit under the same sky it’s just different colours……we have Andy in Doha, Dan in Dubai, David in St Lucia and Peter and I sitting here in Harpenden….

But we will all arrive in Mallorca in the next 11 days….along with over 3000 other people. All determined to complete a course that has been set out to challenge us all.

Colin’s favourite saying when I mentioned anything about these adventures was ‘Y’….but this is different, when Dan and I did our Ironman Colin was alive and active, making us laugh with his endless humour, but now we have three others involved and engaged….it’s just amazing that we still have people’s interest but you know what it sooooooo easy. Our inspiration might not be here in body but his spirit is still with us all.

Colin we miss you so bad but we will keep going to beat this thing. Football just isn’t the same.

We will keep doing stuff and try and make people part with a few quid…let’s just say everyone that reads this and I mean everyone puts a quid into the site it gets us closer to our aim of smashing this b******….come on you can all afford a quid.

Anyhow the other thing is EVERY penny goes to the cause…we don’t take anything……..so please help, we have just passed pay day and you know what you get it all back next month so find a way to help with a quid…….it will help more than you ever know….and remember Colin is watching !!! Cheers mate.

Training boot camp – St Lucia

Yesterday I headed out at 7 in the morning for a group run 4.7miles the run was taken by an ex international rugby player from Wales !! Run went ok, back for breakfast followed by 600m sea swim and then hit the beach to catch some sun!! Then  into a 50min hamstring stretching at the wellness centre ( not sure which one hurt more the run or the stretching!!!)  back to another 400m sea swim. Today sea swimming a number of times and then a spinning class which made me nearly sick! And finished with a full body massage. God I hope all this will help me get over the finish line !!!

Support Crew Update

PhysioroomLearning from previous experience the list of items one is expected to miraculously materialise from a Mary Poppins style bag is a long one. Everything from Arnica to Zantac, including maps, itinerary, timings, local restaurant guides and list of all available hotel rooms for last minute unexpected supporters.

So this time I am prepared…. Courtesy of a local football coach! I now have my very own med kit! So sprains, icing, upset stomachs, Blister plasters, deep heat, forgotten goggles or gloves….. the list goes on with some quaint inclusions I will leave for the gang to enjoy discovering whilst we calm the pre race nerves with some distracting conversation over an blueberry and protein smoothie.

However would someone please explain to me the artistic message of the PhysioRoom logo??

15 days to go….

So how is it that 60% of the team is warm weather training, and the two old boys are contending with winter conditions…..rain, fog and cold, just great !

So into the final lap, Dan has recovered and blasted 80+k cycle this morning! still a bit to go for him but it’s coming, Andy, that bike just will not last! especially if you keep smashing it….David is swimming with the sharks and spinning with…..well better let that one go! and Peter well he has gone quite….no update no nuffink….

Two weeks today we will be in Mallorca, will have registered and swum in the sea, preparing to rack our bikes and then spend the rest of the day just wondering, nerves will be kicking in and banter will be high….every emotion known to man. But also a high level of anticipation and excitement ….. All the weeks of getting up early, training, set backs, highs and lows will all be forgotten, and we will all just want to get on with it…..

But again we go back to the real purpose, It was Colin’s birthday yesterday and it was a timely reminder. He would be so chuffed at the continued support, he knew any effort by everyone was going to be too late for him, but he was so determined to do anything and everything he could do to raise both awareness and cash to help others who would travel the same path, that was just the way the bloke was…truly amazing and never forgotten. So please remember him and his legacy by donating to the cause, what we are doing is nothing compared to his journey so go on please, just do it….thanks

Training Boot Camp

St LuciaDavid: Two days in to boot camp in St Lucia, I’ve had two sea swimming lessons which went ok and 8:00 tomorrow morning I am doing a 2.5k swim round to the next bay !!! I have a morning run Friday. Very heathy food along with freshly made Heath drinks (lots of ginger, beetroot and carrots !!! )

Training Update

Andy: The upheaval of moving country (Qatar, on a project, timing not great, but couldn’t turn it down) can be notably seen in this weeks poor training stats. I’m trying to keep the nuts and bolts I forged over the winter months together through mini sessions when I can. The 45 degree heat outside adds to the challenge. I’m hopeful for a better week now I’ve found a 50m pool, a spot to run and acquainted myself with the gym’s only bike. Must keep motivation up!
